Take a short ride to a world-class attraction -- the Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory, voted the Number One Attraction in Key West for the past two years by the People's Choice Awards.
To set the stage before you enter their world, spend time in the Learning Center, where you can view a 15-minute award-winning film that describes butterflies' anatomy, physiology, and life cycle. Then, walk through this magical tropical paradise, where hundreds of free-flying butterflies and exotic colorful birds from around the world are in a glass-enclosed, climate-controlled conservatory. Some of the most beautiful creatures in nature make their home here amid a backdrop of lush flowers, trees, orchids, and cascading waterfalls.
The gift shop and gallery offer a wide variety of nature-related gifts.
Head to Mallory Square and the Key West Aquarium. In contrast to the modern conservatory, the Aquarium is Key West's oldest attraction, dating back to 1935. It is home to hundreds of different species of Florida Keys sea life. The Aquarium is also home to a wide variety of fish, including grouper, moray eels, barracuda, tropical fish, tarpon, sharks, and parrotfish.
Shark feedings occur daily at 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 4:30pm.
