Embark on a full-day tour of three traditional villages. Your tour begins with a panoramic drive into the foothills of the rugged Sierra Madre mountains.
Stop at a local brickyard to learn about the process of handmaking bricks for use in building construction.
In the small town of Malpica, you will stroll through the ancient cobblestone streets, admiring age-old homes along the way. Step inside a local baker's home to see traditional Mexican pastries baking in brick ovens. Part with a few pesos to sample baked goods fresh from ovens (at your own expense). Watch a demonstration as aging artisans make ceramic tiles using an old hand-press.
Mexico's complex history is encapsulated in Concordia town, founded in 1550 and famed for its furniture, handmade pottery, and magnificent Baroque church.
Don't miss Copala -- a former gold-mining town founded in 1565. You're free to wander through the narrow, cobblestone streets, surveying the old colonial houses and visiting the 16th-century stone church at your leisure.
An authentic Mexican lunch is yours to enjoy, including delicious chicken or beef fajitas and dessert.
Your tour concludes with a brief shopping stop at Mazatlán's bustling Golden Zone before you return to the pier.
Notes:
Wear comfortable walking shoes. Tour sequence may vary. Due to ongoing restoration work, the church in Copala may not be open to visitors. Bring local currency, as many vendors do not accept credit cards or US dollars.
