Discover America’s Finest City aboard Old Town Trolley Tours of San Diego. This two-hour, fully narrated excursion will show you all around San Diego and Coronado, enlighten you with rich historical information, and entertain you with stories of the remarkable heritage of this, The birthplace of California.
Our colorful orange and green trolley picks you up shipside and proceeds along the Embarcadero towards Seaport Village, past the renowned USS Midway aircraft carrier. We continue through the Gaslamp Quarter, the West Coast’s premier entertainment district and an architectural delight, famed for its vibrant nightlife and abundant Victorian-era buildings. From there, we make our way through Barrio Logan, a neighborhood with a distinctive Mexican American flavor, it’s cultural past depicted in bold murals throughout the local Chicano Park and elsewhere around the district. Then, we climb up onto the bridge to Coronado, more than 200 feet above sea level for a trip to the “Crown City,” a distinctive resort “island” community that is home to the beautiful, historic Hotel Del Coronado, as well as the west coast location of America’s Pacific Fleet at Naval Air Station North Island. Crossing back over the bridge to San Diego, we continue to Balboa Park, the nation’s largest urban cultural park and home to seventeen museums, spectacular gardens, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo. Our sojourn continues to Little Italy, a chic, pedestrian-friendly neighborhood, packed with trendy cocktail bars, brewpubs, and restaurants with bustling patios. Our next stop is Old Town, “The Birthplace of California.” Old Town’s State Historic Park is populated with free museums in restored buildings that represent life in the 1800s. Old Town is also home to the Whaley House, America’s most haunted domicile!
As we make our way back to the ship, we will pass by a diverse collection of watercrafts docked at the Maritime Museum, including a Steam Ferry from 1898, and the Star of India, the world’s oldest operational iron-hulled sailing vessel.
