Board air-conditioned transportation to enjoy San Juan's 17th-century architecture and historical buildings.
At UNESCO World Heritage Site Fort San Cristobal, the largest fortification built by the Spaniards in the New World (1634), it's a self-guided visit through the Main Plaza, watchtowers, tunnels, bunker, and dungeon. Before setting off on our own, you will receive a briefing and an explanation about the fortress and its historical value.
Head out of town past the Capitol Building before passing through New San Juan and the Condado District. On a traditional farm, take a sightseeing tour with a guide from the plantation through an idyllic tropical paradise on 2,000 acres of former plantation. There's a striking variety of trees, tropical flowers, "horses of Paso Fino" colorful peacocks, and many other birds, with a piña colada afterward.
Back in Old San Juan, take advantage of an optional drop-off at Columbus Square for free time on your own if you wish.
Notes:
Walking at Fort San Cristobal is substantial. There is an elevator at the fort, but the fort is not wheelchair accessible. Steps are required to reach the restroom at the farm. Not advisable for guests using a wheelchair or for those with mobility limitations. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Shade is limited; to avoid sunburn, wear light, long clothing suitable for use as a cover-up. Bring a hat and sunglasses; wear biodegradable sunscreen. Bring bottled water. Traffic can be unpredictable. The driver will do his/her best to keep moving safely. Your patience is greatly appreciated. Delays occasionally extend tour duration. Tour sequence may vary.
