First, depart from the pier and take a short panoramic drive through the town with its magnificent monuments.
You will arrive at Villa Malfitano, an urban oasis with a luxuriant garden. The villa, constructed in the late 19th century by the archaeologist and botanist Joseph Isaac Whitaker, is surrounded by gardens containing plants from all over the world. There is a marvelous variety of tropical plants, including many rare plants from Tunisia, Sumatra, Australia and South America.
Your tour continues to the Villa Giulia Botanic Gardens. Founded in 1875 as a project by Leon Dufourny and Venanzio Marvuglia, the botanic gardens are among the most interesting in Europe thanks to their rich and abundant examples derived from various vegetation types. In fact, the flora here originates from throughout the world.
