Leaving Skjolden behind, you'll experience a varied landscape on a panoramic drive along Sognefjord, surrounded by lush green views. Then, ascend through the Jostedal Valley with its traditional agricultural scenery.
See how the landscape and terrain of Jostedal Glacier National Park have been shaped over the years by the ice and rivers. Jostedal Glacier is the largest ice field in mainland Norway and is a remnant of the last major Ice Age, some 18,000 years ago.
Situated at the foot of the Nigardsbreen Glacier is the Breheim Glacier Center -- a visitor center for the National Park, offering exhibits, a souvenir shop, a café and a wonderful view of the glacier.
Your scenic drive continues on a private toll road, which brings you into Nigardsbreen Nature Reserve. Stop here to see the mighty Nigardsbreen Glacier in the distance (approximately two miles away). The glacier is one of the 'arms' stretching from the Jostedal Glacier into the valley.
Notes:
Tour route travels through several short tunnels.
