Your excursion starts from the pier in Eidfjord -- a charming village at the head of the fjord built on sand and gravel moraines from the major Ice Age. Your coach follows the road along the River Eid, well known for excellent trout and salmon fishing.
At the far end of the Upper Eidfjord Lake, you'll stop at the Fossli Hotel to see the famous Vøringfossen Waterfall. A path leads down to a viewing platform offering a stunning view of the waterfall as it cascades down into a deep canyon almost 600 feet below.
Return to Eidfjord and continue to Simadalen. Here, you will change from bus to boat for a 45-minute fjord cruise.
Heading back toward Eidfjord, you'll see waterfalls, steep mountains, and the Kjeåsen mountain farm, perched like an eagle's nest approximately 2,000 feet above the fjord.
Notes:
In Spring (April & May), some viewpoints or attractions are inaccessible due to snow, causing roads to remain closed; this varies greatly from season to season. An alternative viewpoint or attraction may be substituted. The onboard Shore Excursions team will provide the latest details approximately 48 hours prior to the call at Eidfjord. Tour may be canceled at short notice. This tour is non-refundable and non-transferable from 72 hours before the ship's call in Eidfjord. It is essential that you wear warm, layered clothing in order to fully enjoy and participate in this excursion. Outer layer should be waterproof and windproof. Bring gloves, a warm hat and a scarf.
