Visit Tanah Lot Temple -- a magnificent house of worship perched precariously on a huge rock resting just off of the coastline -- perhaps the most photographed temple in all of Bali. Tanah Lot has been an important part of Balinese mythological history for centuries. At the base of the rocky island, poisonous sea snakes guard the temple from evil spirits and intruders.
Drive on to the famed Alas Kedaton monkey forest. Its towering trees are unique to this area and are sacred to the Balinese people. The forest is also home to some of Bali's cheekiest inhabitants -- macaque monkeys -- whose antics will have you laughing in no time.
Next, stop for a refreshment in Puri Taman Sari. Enjoy coffee and tea with local snacks in shady a coconut grove among terraced rice fields.
Your last visit is to the former Royal Temple of Pura Taman Ayun, built in 1634 and easily one of the most beautiful temples on the island. Pura Taman Ayun temple is famous for its exquisite shrines.
