Humana - Dan Brown

Dan Brown is currently a Sales Representative for Humana Insurance Company. Dan lives in Springfield Township and has had a career in the Insurance industry since 2002. This year, Dan is in the top 20 representatives out of 1,500 in the United States and has achieved the
award in the Humana President’s Club. Humana is well known for its Medicare, Individual health, Dental, and Vision health insurance programs. In addition, Humana offers a broad range of Financial Protection Products for individual that pay cash directly to the family. Some include Cash Cancer, Critical Illness and Hospital fund. MWA Fraternal Financial: Brad Hesson

Bradley Gordon Hesson is currently a Financial Advisor for Modern Woodmen of America and a Recruiting Assistant as a retiree for the U.S. Armed Forces since early 2007. He plans to transform from an almost twenty-five year career with the U.S. Army, since retiring in 2006, to a financial planning specialty and has been active in the financial industry for approximately thirteen years.
Brad functioned in several career fields with the U.S. Army, but primarily served as a Readiness/Strength Maintenance/Career Counselor/Recruiting Supervisor/Manager. Helping others maximize security and minimize exposure is still one of his strengths.

May SpotlightHe received a Master of Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana in 1993 and his Bachelor of Science in accounting and management information systems from the Max M. Fisher College of Business at the Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio in 1986. Brad enjoys playing an active role in the community, state & nation, church, YMCA of Toledo, automation, photography, and music and enjoys sharing with his family. He grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, has lived in Northwest Ohio for more than twenty years and has four children.

Modern Woodmen of America (MWA) is a fraternal benefit society, that provides benefits for members, their families and their communities. 2009 was a strong year financially and fraternally for the Rock Island, Illinois-based organization. Their assets neared $9.3 billion and more than $577 million was returned to members through life insurance and annuity benefits paid. An additional $73.8 million was returned to members as dividend payments and excess interest paid into life insurance and annuity certificates. Fraternal expenditures contributed were $23.3 million to support programs in member communities nationwide. “We have always been conservative in our investment practices,” said W. Kenny Massey, President of the fraternal financial services organization. “This protects our members as well as Modern Woodmen’s integrity. This approach has served the society well during the recent economic turmoil.” “ Modern Woodmen’s mission is to improve the quality of life for members,” said Massey. “We do this by providing financial security through life insurance and retirement products.”

Fraternal programs support members’ communities… Modern Woodmen has a nationwide membership of more than 755,000, of which Ohio is home to 37,983 Modern Woodmen members. Fraternal expenditures supporting Modern Woodmen’s family-oriented member benefits and programs were $23.3 million. These benefits and programs include disaster relief assistance, college scholarships, a tree-planting program, social and volunteer service programs by adult camp (chapters) and youth service clubs nationwide, and educational programs for schools and youth groups.

Ev Harris - Ev Harris Insurance Agency

The Ev Harris Insurance Agency has been a part of the Springfield Township area for 30 years!

Ev started from scratch in 1980 and built his Nationwide Agency into one he is very proud of. Nationwide is an extremely high quality insurance company with a support staff that compliments each agency. His Office Manager, Maggie Hall, joined him in 1998 and with her help they have achieved one of the highest customer service scores in the Toledo area! Nationwide “On Your Side” service is respected by all companies because of the in-house claims service that gives Blue Ribbon Service to all clients.

Ev has won numerous sales awards, but is equally proud of his awards for community service that has been bestowed on him by Nationwide Insurance Companies. “I have wholeheartedly tried to share my success with my community by giving of my time to try and make the Springfield area a first class place to raise a family.” Ev has also been a member of the Toledo Board of Realtors and has been a local realtor for 37 years. He currently sells for the prestigious Sulphur Springs Realty Company.

Ev, George Tombaugh and Fred Dais were the three people who started the Holland/Springfield Chamber of Commerce in 1990 and he was our first President. He also is a member of the Springfield Board of Education, the Springfield Foundation, and is President of Providence Lutheran Church. He was named a Master Board member by the Ohio School Board Association, an Award of Achievement winner several times, and in 2001 was named one of the top five School Board members in the State of Ohio.

Ev, his wife Lana, and his two grown children Ev & Kristie, all live in Springfield Township.

Critchley Creative

D. Ellen Critchley is the president and creative director of Critchley Creative LLC, which provides advertising and public relations services for small businesses, major corporations, community organizations, candidates and elected officials. Critchley Creative produces successful websites, advertising, collateral marketing materials, news articles, press releases and press conferences, and has developed good working relationships with media contacts.

Ellen has been writing, designing and publicizing since her days as a student at McKinley School.  She is a graduate of DeVilbiss High School (Toledo, Ohio) and Miami University (Oxford, Ohio).
She has been involved professionally and personally in numerous community events — organizing, planning, marketing, communicating and participating.  She is currently a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and the Junior League.  Ellen is also committed to professionalism as an active member of BNI, Certified Networker (CN), Women's Entrepreneurial Network (WEN) and the Holland-Springfield Chamber of Commerce. Glass City Pilates

PILATES was developed by its founder Joseph H. Pilates in the early 20th century. Joseph Pilates was born in Dusseldorf, Germany November 30th, 1880. Joe moved to England in 1912 trained detectives and military police and instruction in Self-defense. During WWI Mr. Pilates was interned as an 'enemy alien' with other German's in Lancaster then the Isle of Man. Joe was recognized when none of the individuals he trained succumbed to an epidemic of influenza, which killed thousands in England during 1918. In 1925 he was invited to train the New German Army; not pleased with the Political direction of Germany he left. On the push of boxing experts Nat Fleischer and Max Schmelling-Joseph came to the US and opened a gym in 1926 (57th St. NY,NY).

PILATES is gentle exercise-that is effective and accessible to all fitness levels and all ages--those who choose a Pilates program do so to increase overall Health and quality of life. This exercise method is an excellent start for young, middle aged and elderly. Pilates will strengthen and build secondary muscles the stabilizer muscles-located just below the navel and all around the mid-section. This abdominal wrap builds slowly with practice and patience. Pilates will improve balance, coordination and enhance the immune system.

Pilates excels in Postural re-education and muscle-balancing necessary to recover from side effects of Breast Cancer treatment.
